Beast of boredom.
It looks something like this: http://www.cornwalltour.co.uk/images/north/beast_bodmin_moor.jpg

Ah, the holidays! Roll on days filled with luminous sunshine and ice-cream, miles and miles of infinite beaches, delicious warmth...

... and torrential rain...

Seriously now, God. We (well, some people, not including me) worship you and love you and abide by your commandments! It's July, Lord. Why rain? Why wind? Why temperatures so far below those normally associated with Summer that you actually need a COAT and SCARF to go outside?

I'm going to Berlin on Tuesday. I will laugh with more than just a small sense of irony if the weather is better there.

Torchwood Signing, Cardiff
Well, that was a fun day. Last week, I went to town with my twin, and we saw a sign saying that there would be a Torchwood signing of the 3rd series DVD with John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd (yum). So, we skipped home and merrily planned to go. That signing was today, and we went with two other friends, one of whom had a Captain Jack military coat!

My envious photo-editing skills. Yes, I made a fan club for my friend's Jack Harkness coat.

It was the most awesome thing ever. We got there at 11, had originally planned to be there for 1 o'clock but all our school lessons were cancelled (well, my twin actually had to mitch Biology, but shh), so we went early - and it was a good thing we did! There were already about 30 people in the queue, and the signing didn't start until 5pm!

The queue at about 4pm... probably about 300 people came in the end!

So we sat down in the queue for 6 1/2 hours... Here are some of the more interesting things that happened.

- 2 VERY ADHD kids kept having what they referred to as 'a pushy fight' in which they basically jumped on each other and pushed each other into shop doorways and phone boxes... that was the strangest thing I have ever seen people doing in public.

- A weird beggar woman came up to us. She was about 4ft tall and very old, with a coffee cup to beg with. I don't like being hassled - I am not averse to giving money to those who need it, but this woman literally just stood there until people gave her something, so I turned to her and said 'I'm sorry, but I have given all my worldly goods to the poor children of Belarus'. She actually smiled and said 'thank you'!

- A strange improvisational drama man began doing performances for us! He had this act where you gave him an object and he did a comedy act with it. He wasn't funny at all, but it passed about 15 minutes.

Then, at 5pm...

I HAVE THEIR AUTOGRAPHS.

I didn't speak to them - you weren't really allowed, there were too many people there - but GDL is lovely in real life, JB is better-looking than he is on screen (I think his botox was wearing off, thank goodness) and also very lovely, and EM is mad and equally lovely and has great hair. So, all-in-all, an amazing day - but my feet don't half hurt...

Humans.

These photographs were taken last year in 'Eperlecque', a destroyed bunker planned as a V2 rocket launch site. This is not the bunker mentioned in this post; all photographs taken there were unuseable as every picture ended up being cloaked in a strange, white mist, presumably from the cold/damp conditions.

A few years ago, I went to a World War Two bunker in France. Obviously it was built by the Germans during the occupation of France. If you've never visited a bunker before, imagine a huge slab of concrete with wire breaking out of cracks like veins and flesh. Even the bunkers themselves look like death, grey and intimidating. Imagine walls up to 30 metres thick made of solid concrete, with underground chambers and areas built just to launch rockets, and thousands of captured prisoners working to build it. It's the ultimate irony that the workers who tired and sweated and perished to raise the huge structures from the ground were the very people who the masterminds behind the bunkers sought to exterminate. Anyway, this particular bunker was never finished, because just as it neared completion it was bombed by the Allied forces, killing tens of thousands of slave workers and burying them half-alive under tonnes of rubble and concrete. The bunker must not have been abandoned as this area was built over, and we were able to walk over it. We walked over the accidental graves of thousands of people, and we didn't even know their names. We walked over the accidental graves of thousands of people and they were forgotten by everyone except us. There was no plaque outside to commemorate their loss as anything unusual, presumably because the loss of a few thousand out of 11 million is really just a tiny drop of mercury in an ocean full of the stuff, but to think that we were THERE, only a few metres away from a sea of decay and memories and trapped souls was sickening. I've never seen a dead body before, unless you count roadkill or the scene of a fatal car accident or the mummies at the British Museum. I've never been so close to a scene of complete atrocity. But really, what upset me about it is the fact that all those people were just that; people. They loved and hated and thought and laughed and breathed and WERE and now they're not and no-one knows anything about them. That's no way to leave this world. There should always be someone to remember you, something in which your essence lives on, be it a journal or a son or a photograph. These people had nothing. If any of their relatives are still alive, do they know how they died? Do they think that they died in a concentration camp, or in war, or of disease? No-one should ever have to die without being remembered. At least we now remember the victims of the Holocaust, but we don't remember them as individuals. We remember them as a mass of unfortunate and doomed people, writhing in hatred together, but only as 'Holocaust victims', when before they were Holocaust victims they were sons and daughters and brothers and sisters. The only point I am trying to make here is that no-one should have to be alone and forgotten. If I were Prime Minister, I'd make it a law that everyone went to a graveyard every week and read all the names on the gravestones and thought about that person, whether they knew them or not, and maybe mourn the loss of that person's character and experiences. But we're humans. We don't do that. That would be unselfish.

Urghhh

I hate far too much at dinner. Why is my mum such a good cook?! I should sue.

Today has been uneventful, as per usual. Realised that I am in pretty desperate need of a haircut though. I have no idea how I want it cut. I've had various suggestions - pixie cut (because I'm an elf), bob, skinhead...

What do you think, world?

(This is the elfiest picture I have. Elf.)

I also really need a cup of tea.

I also am not hungry but want to eat, but will resist.

I also realised that not everyone likes mustard yellow footless tights as much as I do.

Ho hum. Boring days are so darned monotonous.

Revenge of the Blistered Skin
Wow, I must be a real magnet for blisters... just discovered I have this sexy piece of ass on my lip.

Yes, it's a blood blister! Must've bitten my lip while eating my (accidentally) vegetarian spaghetti bolognese. Mum has to learn to read the labels of food before she buys it.

Anyway, this post is really to showcase my extreme art skills. Dad drew a picture of me at dinner:

.. which is a REALLY cunning, sly reference to the fact that I'm short and top heavy. So I drew this in response:

I think we can all agree that my family is quite clearly a talented bunch.
And no, I did not take Art at A Level...
