I have returned.

Berlin was rather good, chaps. The weather was far too hot for me - I actually had to wear SHORTS and SUNGLASSES, eww (but my sunglasses are pink and orange and my shorts were yellow) - and the people were awful. Sorry, but it's true - a lot of Germans really do hate the British!

One elderly couple on the train sat in the seats behind us. We had the window open, and the old woman stood up and slammed it, tutting. I then moved with mum to sit on the other side of the train, on the cooler side as the Sun was on the left, and as we'd been walking for literally about 4 hours non-stop, I put my feet up on the seat in front of me because I was in quite a lot of pain (my feet still throb!). The old man then shouted at me in broken English "THIS IS NOT OK!!" and pointed at me with a look of rage and fury in his watery eyes. I put my feet down. I'm an argumentative person, but even I didn't think it would be decent to argue with a 500 year old couple.
My mum, on the other hand, didn't care.
She stormed right back to where dad and my sister were sitting and opened the window again, at which the old bag stood up and shouted some obscenities in German (do they really think that no English speaking person knows how to say 'shit' in German?), and closed it again. My mum and her had a huge language-barrier slanging match - "IT'S HOT, YOU FUCKING OLD BINT!!!!" "Du bist ein respektloser Ausländer!! Nein!!!!" - until the old biddies relocated to the other end of the carriage, giving us filthy looks. All this was witnessed by a woman with copious amounts of under-arm hair and a foul stench of BO. Nice.

However, I did meet 2 nice Germans. Our tour guide was awesome, he was once in a band that opened for Tokio Hotel in Switzerland, which excited my sister, and he was just generally the best person ever. There was also a woman on the train who gave up her seat for me. So, overall a good holiday. I'm shattered, though. Got home at half 12, then slept until half 2, then slept until 10 past 6, then slept until half 7, then slept until half 9. Hate how I get jet-lagged after a one hour time difference.

Speaking of returning from holidays, I read a really weird article about how depressed people find it really hard to return home. Uh, since when? The majority of depressed people find it really hard to go on holiday and adjust to the different culture and attitudes of the locals, and are often relieved to get home. Of course, if the holiday was very enjoyable then some depressed people will feel bored and emotionless upon the return home, but not often will they actively feel upset. Or at least, not in my experience!

Beast of boredom.
It looks something like this: http://www.cornwalltour.co.uk/images/north/beast_bodmin_moor.jpg

Ah, the holidays! Roll on days filled with luminous sunshine and ice-cream, miles and miles of infinite beaches, delicious warmth...

... and torrential rain...

Seriously now, God. We (well, some people, not including me) worship you and love you and abide by your commandments! It's July, Lord. Why rain? Why wind? Why temperatures so far below those normally associated with Summer that you actually need a COAT and SCARF to go outside?

I'm going to Berlin on Tuesday. I will laugh with more than just a small sense of irony if the weather is better there.

Return to Oz... er, Cardiff.
Well, what a twee little holiday that was. Great fun was had by all, apart from when a tractor reversed into my uncle's car and nearly killed him and my grandad... but all's well that ends well! I'll try and summarise in my favourite form - bullet points!
  • South Molton is a very quaint little town, very pretty indeed, but not great for a day out because there's sod all to do.
  • Don't anger a chicken. They can run quite fast.
  • I finally bought a scarf I've been saving up for... cost £10 normally but I got it for £7, muaha.
  • Cadbury's Mis-Shapes are LOVE in chocolate form.
  • It's easier than I thought to survive for a week without internet connection or signal on my mobile phone.
  • Prisoners in Dartmoor Prison might complain about the hard time they get behind bars, but they're lucky the cat o' nine tails is no longer used there... I never knew they used that in any non-naval circumstances!
  • Cows moo very loudly.
  • Broken fire alarms are no fun, especially at 4 in the morning.
  • Apparently, a rumour has been going round that I stuff my bra. Yay, my bust has been the talk of the town. (As Aneira said, 'what with - melons??' You have to love well-meaning siblings.)
  • Writing postcards in French is actually quite difficult without a French dictionary or translator.

Might put up pictures later, might not. It depends on whether I can be bothered or not...

Au revoir!
Am off to Devon for a week. Yay. Goodbye civilisation and adorable Welsh lilt, hello cows and sheep and incomprehensible farmer jargon. When I get back I shall amaze you all with many pictures of the wonderful countryside of Devon, and maybe some random photographs of farm animals. I'm sure there'll be a few.

Went to Devon last year and visited the world renowned 'Gnome Reserve'... don't tell me that Devon isn't mad :P

Author's note: yes, I have been to Devon before, so don't tell me I'm being close-minded when I speak of sheep and cows. There are lots. There is an ABUNDANCE of farm animals in Devon. And gnomes, actually. But more on that when I get back.
